The following was written by Justin Aiken's mother, Cheryl:
"Justin L. Aiken, age 19 was killed by a drunk driver on July 26, 2005. Justin was a native of Claremont, New Hampshire, where he graduated from Stevens High School in June of 2004.
"Justin's enthusiasm for life exploded with every new endeavor that he attempted. And it was contagious to everyone around him. Justin had chosen the machine tool trade as the area he wanted to pursue. At the time of his death, he had been working for a local machine tool company. Justin had excelled in school in this trade. His instructor told us that he was extremely gifted in this field.
"Justin had no limits to his capabilities. His life was just blooming from a young bud into full blossom. He was just beginning to experience his independence and planned on moving out on his own soon. His interests outside of his occupation were hunting, fishing, riding motorcycle, just being an all around outdoorsman. He had just become an uncle and that was the biggest joy of all to Justin.
"This scholarship that we give in his name every year is in hopes of enabling a student to be able to experience all the joys, dreams and aspirations in life, so that Justin's memory will keep living on."
The following was written by Robin Flaig's mother, Pat:
"Robin J. Flaig died July 27, 2005 as the result of injuries sustained in an accident caused by a drunk driver. She was born in Claremont, NH where she graduated from St Mary Elementary School and Stevens High School. At the time of her death, she was home on summer break after completing her first year of college at Frostburg State University in Maryland. Robin hoped to become a child psychologist but who knows, she could have been anything.
"Robin's second home was at the Jenkin's school of dance and gymnastics. She studied there for 15 years taking classes in gymnastics, tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical and hip-hop. Eventually she worked there as a classroom assistant teaching younger dancers and also as a teacher's assistant for dance classes at her high school. As an original member of the sports acrobatics team, Robin traveled to US Gymnastics competitions in Maryland and Pennsylvania earning two first place awards with her partner.
"Robin loved children and animals. Her hobbies included snowboarding, writing, photography, scrap booking and shopping. She liked to travel and visit family. She enjoyed all types of music.
"Words that describe Robin include: talented, playful, wild, wise, intuitive, brave, smart, creative, supportive, fun, beautiful and caring. She wanted to make a difference.
"Our little girl will never have the opportunity to follow her dreams but through these scholarships other young adults may achieve their goals."
